Common Questions

Quick answers before you book

Do I need to be fit to go canyoning?
For Level 2 and 3 you just need to be in normal health and comfortable in water, no special fitness required. Level 4 involves more hiking and longer descents, so a basic fitness level is recommended. Our guides adapt the pace to the group.
What happens if it rains?
Most rainy days are still safe and fun. Madeira's canyons are designed for water! We only cancel if river levels become unsafe. In that rare case we'll reschedule for free or refund 100%.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your tour for a full refund. Bad-weather cancellations from our side are always 100% refunded or rescheduled at no cost.
Are children allowed?
Level 2 is open to children 10+ when accompanied by a paying adult. Level 3 requires age 12+. Level 4 and Level 5 are adults only (18+). All under-18s must have a parent or guardian sign the participation agreement.
Where do the tours start and end?
It's a round trip: we start and finish at the same meeting point, so you can leave your car there. On Levels 2 and 3 we can also pick you up from your accommodation at 7:30. The exact meeting point comes with your confirmation.
How cold is the water?
It changes through the year, colder in winter, milder in summer. You wear a 5mm wetsuit and neoprene socks, so you stay warm even on cool days.
What time do the tours start?
We meet at 8:30 and you're back between 12:00 and 13:00, so lunch and the afternoon stay yours. Levels 4 and 5 start at 8:00 and run longer: Level 4 is back before 14:00, Level 5 before 15:00.
